              The Return of Paul Yarrow
                            By Garaelb

Paul Yarrow, aka The Mystery Man of BBC News, has returned to photo bombing and video bombing, his way back onto the screens of English news television. After having been gone for several months now the Mystery Man has made his holiday return on a recent SKY news coverage at London’s Victoria Station, of the snow storm that racked English rail and road ways last week.
Often dressed in his patently recognizable beige wrinkled sweater, Mr Yarrow stands - or wanders - wordlessly behind the reporters with a quizzical look on his face.

Mr. Yarrow first started showing up on live news coverage back in November of 2009, and to date is estimated to have been seen in over 100 news and television broadcasts. He does not seem to be disruptive, or even that much of an annoyance to anyone other than possibly the cameraman, as his style seems to be only about getting some ‘face time’ on television. He doesn’t seem to do anything other than try to keep his face in the camera shot.

Mr. Yarrow is also a writer for a town blog, The Peoples Republic of Southwark. In one of his entries, he writes about the Anti-BNP protest, which happens to be the first event he was spotted on camera at.

When asked about his dogged efforts to appear on TV, Mr Yarrow was philosophical.

"I'm trying to make a statement: 'Be who you are.' I'm just a common person in the street," he told the Daily Mail, adding that that there were too many beautiful people on TV, and he wanted that to change.

"People say we live in a fairer, more understanding society these days, but elderly and overweight people still get pushed aside.
"The camera crews try to move me out of the way, but I'm a human being.

"I know it’s very odd, but I’m saying: 'This is me.' I might be overweight, but this is who I am. I don’t do it to be funny. I’m quite a serious person, really, but I’m quite unsightly and that makes some people laugh."
